The Adventure

Day 1-Arrival

Where dreams begin

Arrive in Iceland and be met by your adventure leader and taken into Reykjavik for your first-night stay. After some sightseeing of the city relax and sample some Icelandic hospitality and food in a local restaurant.

Day 2

Waterfalls, Geysir & Icelandic Horses

We travel to the historical site of Thingvellir National park, UNESCO World Heritage site and the site of the world's oldest parliament was founded in 930 A.D which was used for centuries by Iceland's first settlers, the Vikings. At Thingvellir, we also delve into geology as we explore the rift valley between the North American tectonic plate and the Eurasian plate. From Thingvellir, we go to a farm in Fridheimar where we will experience another fascinating place and learn about horticulture and the unique Icelandic horses that have been Icelanders’ best friends and companion for centuries. At the farm, we then go and visit the incredible greenhouse to learn about their tomato growing and other fascinating horticultural crops before lunch, where the menu usually includes their fantastic tomato soup and homemade bread.

After lunch, we’ll head out to visit the impressive waterfall at Gullfoss, a dramatic two-tiered waterfall and a truly spectacular sight in winter when partly frozen. Our next stop is the geothermal fields of Geysir, bubbling mud pots and hot springs, take a look at Strokkur and the spouting hot spring, and witness its power as it bursts into the air. We then head to our overnight stay close to the Geysir before an evening meal and after dinner, weather permitting, head out and look for the northern lights.
