We will stop on the way for lunch in one of the little villages. This peninsula is often called Iceland in a nutshell, the reason is the landscape, mountains, coastline, lava, formations and the glacier, this is all found in other parts of the island.
We will enjoy the whole day on peninsula, stopping for photos and exploring this beautiful area

Thingvellir is Iceland´s most sacred place, the place where the oldest parliament in the world was founded. It is also the place where we find the largest rift between tectonic plates in Iceland.
Iceland is on the mid-Atlantic ridge, on 2 tectonic plates, the Eurasian plate and North American plate and the geology is fascinating.
From there we drive to the Geysir area where there are numerus hot springs , best known is Geysir, the one the area is named after and Strokkur, the one that is extremely active and spouts on a regular basis. In the Visitors centre, we will have lunch in one of the restaurants there.
